President appoints Exxon-Mobil Vice Chairman to head NNPC

Kachikwu’s appointment was announced today, August 4, 2015, via a statement released by Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina.

 

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Emmanuel Kachikwu to serve as the new Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Kachikwu’s appointment was announced today, August 4, 2015, via a statement released by Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina.

Kachikwu was the Executive Vice Chairman and General Counsel of Exxon-Mobil (Africa) before his appointment and is set to replace former GMD, Joseph Dawha.

According to the statement, Buhari also approved the appointment of Umaru Danbatta as the new Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

Danbatta takes over from Eugene Juwah whose tenure expired on July 29, 2015.
