‘NASS can’t summon President through newspaper,’ Garba Shehu says

The Presidency made the comment in response to the Assembly’s supposed summon of Buhari to speak on the government’s efforts to end the current recession.
The comments were made by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
“There is a channel of communication between the Presidency and the National Assembly which we utilize. So, if they communicate to us through those channels, then the presidency will reply,” Shehu said according to Vanguard.

“But as it is now, it remains a newspaper report and newspaper is not a means of communication for the presidency. When they communicate, the presidency will also communicate back,” he added.
The Assembly reached the decision to summon Buhari on Thursday, October 6 after a motion on the issue was passed by the Senate in agreement with the House of Representatives.
