UN says terrorists are preventing it from helping almost 1 million people
Boko Haram is said to control a large part of the fishing industry in the area despite military operations against the sect.

“We believe that there are up to a million people in the areas and villages we haven’t been able to reach,” UN humanitarian coordinator for the Sahel, Toby Lanzer told Reuters.
“We are very concerned about the security situation. Do not think that the crisis is anywhere near over,” Lanzer added.

Lanzer had warned in September that Nigeria is on the brink of a famine unlike any that has been experienced anywhere else on the planet.
