'I've nothing to hide,' says woman declared wanted by the Army

Wakil, who said she is very known to the military hierarchy in the country, said she is available when the army is ready to interrogate her.

A masked gunman stands in front of a group of girls in a Boko Haram video released on August 14, 2016 purporting to show the Chibok hostages

“They know me very well. Right from [former President Goodluck] Jonathan’s time. I am not hiding,”Wakil told Premium Times on Monday, August 15.

The army had declared Wakil and two others, Ahmad Salkida, a journalist, and Ahmed Bolori,  a peace negotiator based in Maiduguri, wanted on allegations that they have ties to the Boko Haram sect.

Salkida and Bolori have also denied the claims, saying they are not in hiding.

“I’ve had meeting with them, I still met with the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, and other Army chiefs towards the end of last year. We had very lengthy meeting that we finished around 11 p.m and the next day we continued.

“I’m in Abuja right now, but I am thinking of going back to Maiduguri so I can see them at the main barracks there. But if there’s anywhere I could see them in Abuja here I will go and see them,” Wakil added.

She berated the military for declaring her wanted, adding that the news has left her family worried.
