Dasuki stated this to news agency Agence France Presse (AFP) on Monday, February 9.

Dasuki hadfirst called for a poll shiftto enable citizens collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) before later informing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that security couldn’t be provided for the polls if they were held in February.

This led the Chairman of INEC, Attahiru Jega to announce a six-week postponement on Saturday, February 7.

Dasuki however insisted that the elections would not be postponed any further.

The poll shift has been condemned by the United Statesand many Nigerians while the opposition party,  All Progressives Congress (APC) described it as a provocative move.
