The residents also reportedly stated that no soldiers had arrived the area to fight terrorists and protect civilians.
The attack is said to have begun on Friday, January 23, and state legislator, Adamu Kamale told AP that he had appealed to the military to send help but none seemed to be forthcoming.
Another 100 people are said to have died in an attack by the sect which took place in Maiduguri on Sunday, January 25.
