Osun govt. denies diverting bailout loan

Okanlawon also said Governor Rauf Aregbesola has been prudent with the state’s meagre resources.

The state government also said the it was not indicted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Semiu Okanlawon said “This is because after the payment of seven months backlog of salaries last year, the government had proceeded to pay salaries on the agreed terms with workers. And this is why Osun has been able to pay its workers till January this year.

“There is no case of diversion of bailout loan as far as Osun is concerned.”

He said “Don’t also forget that the bailout was to take care of salaries backlog up till June last year. The report that that Osun paid salaries last in July 2015 is laughable when in actual fact workers in the state have got their salaries up till January 2016 and already looking forward to February salaries including pensioners.”

Meanwhile, the Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the ICPC report indicting Aregbesola is a proof that the Governor is mismanaging funds.
