Court sends ex-NNPC boss to Kuje Prison

Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), appeared before the court on Thursday, March 16.
Presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in giving the order, said that Yakubu should be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the determination of his bail application on March 21.
Yakubu was, on Thursday, charged with six counts of fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) due to the recovery of $9.8 million and £74, 000 from his house in Kaduna.
The sums of money were recovered from Yakubu’s property in the Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna on February 3, 2017.
He however pleaded not guilty to the charges of fraud leveled against him.

Meanwhile, Yakubu has sued the EFCC for N1 billion over the seizure of the money which he said was given to him as gifts while he was heading the NNPC.
