Governor to spend N200m to train 500 youths

He said that the decision was aimed at making youths self-reliant and would enhance socio-economic activities in the state.

The Katsina State Government has earmarked N200 million for the training and empowerment of 500 youths, according to Gov. Aminu Masari.

The governor disclosed this on Tuesday in Katsina, while receiving an interim report of the state’s Economic and Investment Summit committee.

Masari said that his administration would continue to promulgate policies that would improve the living conditions of the people and urged the committee to involve local, small and medium-scale businesses in its activities.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, said that the theme of the summit was ‘’unlocking the investment potential for sustainable development.’’

Tukur said that the committee identified agri-business, power, solid minerals, property development and tourism as potential investment sectors that the state had.

He further revealed that the committee would discuss with investors from countries like U.S.A., UK, Brazil, China, India, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Republic, among others.

He urged the government to mark out reserved lands for both industrial layout and residential purposes to attract investors.
