A recent study has found men who sleep with nearly 20 women slashed their risk of prostate cancer by 28 per cent. Claiming that regular intercourse may flush out cancer causing chemicals as the prostate secretes the bulk of the fluid in semen.
Meanwhile, celibacy on the other hand, doubles the risk of the disease.
In the United Kingdom alone, over 41,000 cases are diagnosed and 10,800 die of the disease each year.
According to UK's DailyMail, it is the first study to suggest that the number of female partners is what matters, rather than the amount of sex, or even masturbation.
When asked if the Public Health Authorities should encourage men to sleep with multiple women, Professor Marie-Elise Parent replied: "we are not there yet".
The University of Montreal professor added that: "It is possible that having many female sexual partners results in a higher frequency of ejaculations, whose protective effect against prostate cancer has been previously observed in cohort studies."
Another theory for the protective effect of sex is it reduces calcifications in the prostate, a gland located between the bladder and the penis, just in front of the rectum.
Men who said they had never had sexual intercourse were almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with the disease as those who said they had.
