Do not be dismayed by judgment, APC tells members

"Ordinarily, such large- scale annulment should have logically led to upholding the annulment of the governorship election as pronounced by the Tribunal and Appeal Court," he said.

Governor Nyesom Wike

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers on Thursday urged its members and supporters not to be dismayed by the Supreme Court's Judgment which upheld Governor Wike's election.

The state Chairman of APC, Chief Davies Ikanya, made the appeal in a statement in Port Harcourt.

"The APC received with mixed feelings the Supreme Court judgment of January 27, upholding the appeal of Gov. Nyesom Wike against the annulment of his election," he said.

Ikanya said the struggle to retrieve the mandates of all APC candidates in the 2015 elections led to the annulment and ordering for rerun elections in the state.

"The various Election Petition Tribunals and Appeal Courts annulled and ordered for rerun elections for 22 State Assembly out of 32 seats, 12 House of Representatives seats and all three Senatorial seats.

Ikanya urged all party candidates for legislative rerun elections in the state to remain steadfast, resilient and work hard with the party`s leadership at all levels to win.

He also called on relations of those who lost their loved ones before, during and after the 2015 electoral violence to remain calm as justice would be granted by God.

Ikanya urged members and supporters of the party in the state to remain calm, focused and ready for the task ahead.
