She also said that 21 people, out of the 49 reported cases have been successfully treated and discharged.
Sani said “Seven persons had absconded. We are making frantic efforts to arrest and bring them back to the hospital before they infect others with the disease.
“We have our internal securities here, but the truth is that we need more to secure the Lassa fever unit.”
Abdulsalami Nasidi, Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in a recent interview, also disclosed that 137 cases and 80 deaths have been recorded since the Lassa fever disease was first reportedin December 2015,
Also, news reports have revealed that a university lecturer has claimed that Yoruba people are immune to the Lassa virus which causes Lassa fever.
