The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Samuel Sam-Sumana has been placed under quarantine after one of his bodyguards died of Ebola.

Sam-Sumana stated that he had voluntarily chosen to quarantine himself for 21 days as a precautionary measure.

“I have decided to be put under quarantine because I do not want to take chances and I want to lead by example. I am very well and showing no signs of illness,” the Vice President told Reuters.
Sam-Sumana is the first senior Sierra Leonean government official to enter into voluntary quarantine.
Meanwhile, the country has been forced to lock down a community after 31 new cases of Ebola were recorded.
