A Lagos pastors wife who is seeking a divorce accused her husband of stealing church funds.

Broken marriage

The wife of the Pastor in-Charge of the Pentecostal Power and Authority Ministry Worldwide, Lagos, Kayode Oladoyinbo, has slammed a divorce suit on him, claiming she can no longer live with him because he is a thief who stole the church funds.

The woman, Christiana, wants the court to annul the 11-year-old marriage that has produced three children because of the shame her husband puts her through anytime he is arrested.

Aside the theft accusation, Christiana also told the Ojo Customary Court that her husband was cruel to her, lacked care and was fond of beating her at the slightest offence.

Responding, Pastor Oladoyinbo said he has accepted his wife's position as regards the divorce but vehemently denied being a thief.

On his part, he said he was also fed up with the marriage, accusing the wife of wickedness. He narrated how his wife, sometime in 2009, poured kerosene on him with the aim of setting him ablaze, before he managed to escape.

On another occasion, he said, the wife attempted to kill him with a knife, but he managed to overpower her and take the knife from her. He also claimed that she had even threatened to burn down his church and kill him in the process.

He alleged that the threat prompted him to report the matter at the Morogbo Police Division, and she was subsequently arrested and during interrogation, the wife confessed that she actually threatened to attack the church, but that she was not serious about it.

“I want this divorce. I am tired of my wife, her constant quarrels and lack of respect for me, my ministry and my family,” Pastor Oladoyinbo said.
