Lecturer involved in sexual harassment scandal says he was framed
The lecturer alleged that he was framed by colleagues who were envious about his career and how he became a top shot in the society.
Idiagbon mentioned that some of his colleagues who were not happy with his achievement at the institution told lies against him.
He revealed this in a text message to Punch News on Thursday, June 9, 2016, stating that he will give more details in a press conference.
“The allegation is harassment and not rape. It is a conspiracy; a set-up by my colleagues over my rise to stardom. I will address the media at the appropriate time.”
According to Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, the university intends to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
He also confirmed that Idiagbon, though now resigned, has been removed as the Head of Department, English Language, in the school.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the University of Ilorin will not allow anybody that violates its rules and regulations to go scot-free
“However, in meting out appropriate sanctions against any offender, we always ensure that due process is strictly followed.
“In the meantime, the lecturer in question has been removed from his position as acting head of department pending the conclusion of investigations.”
The story of the sexual harassment scandal emerged after a female student in the department named Faith, made a recording of her conversation with Idiagbon.
