36-year-old Grace Akpan, her husband, Sambo Akpan, 42, and a Benin Republic national, Houeze Vincent, 33, have been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos, on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, after they allegedly stole their employers' money and other valuable items worth N8.1 million.
House helps steal N8.1 valuables, cash from employer
Three domestic workers are standing trial for stealing property and cash from their employer.
According to the prosecutor in the case, Inspector Ingobo Emby, the accused were domestic helps at a house located at Raymond Njoku Street, Ikoyi, and on July 17, 2015, they conspired among themselves and burgled the home when their employers were out, making away with the sum of $2, 000 in cash, two gold rings valued at N684, 000 and a gold watch valued at N7 million, all valued at N8.1 million.
When the charges were read to them, the accused pleaded not guilty and in his ruling, the Magistrate, H. O. Amos, granted them bail in the sum of N200, 000 each while adjourning the case to August 24 for mention.
