Father of 2 dies in hotel while soliciting sex from customer

A man who solicited for sex from a female customer in place of paying cash for a mobile phone has died mysteriously in the hotel room.

Punch reports that the victim who is a father of two, died inside a hotel known as Treasure Land, in Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area of the state after he and the customer identified as Helen Obiogu, had planned to have sex in exchange for the phone.

It was gathered that Nelson who dealt in mobile phones, had allegedly demanded sex from Obiogu when she could not pay for the phone she bought from him the day before and they had agreed to meet in the hotel to consummate the 'payment in kind.'

According to the report, Obiogu had gone to buy the mobile phone from Nelson's shop located in a shopping mall known as Robinson Plaza along Deco road in Warri South.

She was said to be short of N5,000 to make complete an outright payment for the purchase and had pleaded with the deceased to let her go and come back the following day with the money but he refused and instead, offered to let her keep the phone if she would have sex with him, a proposition she accepted and they agreed at a meeting point.

When the deceased got to the hotel for the rendezvous, it was gathered, Obiogu was already waiting for him and he sent her to go and buy some drinks for them.

It was in the course of sipping the drink that Nelson went into a coma and died before help could come his way.

When the staff of the hotel got wind of the incident, Obiogu was arrested after they noticed she was crying and was in a haste to leave the premises.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Celestina Kalu, has confirmed the incident, saying it happened on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

“It was a sudden and unnatural death. One , the manager of Treasure Land Hotel, reported that one Nelson (male) lodged in his hotel along with his female friend.

We visited the scene of the crime and no mark of violence seen. Nelson, a single father of two, was found dead in his hotel room by 14.55hours.

The suspect, Helen Obiogu, of Ovwian town, has been arrested and detained. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Noble Hospital mortuary for autopsy,” DSP Kalu noted in a statement.

There are speculations that Obiogu could have poisoned the drinks she gave to the victim.
