A 24-year-old suspected cultist, Rasheed Adeola, who allegedly shot and hacked a man to death with others still at large, is to remain behind bars until August, an Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogun has ruled.
Adeola, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on June 24 at about 9.00.p.m. at No. 2, Humph Close, Plaza, Ota.
Mustapha said the accused and his accomplices, being members of a secret cult known as “Aiye Confraternity”, conspired and killed a man, Wallu Folorunsho.
“The accused and his accomplices killed the victim by attacking him with a gun and a cutlass.”
The offences contravened Sections 319 (1) and 324 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr B. B. Adebowale, said the accused should be remanded in custody pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.
He adjourned the case until August 25.
