2 men arrested for allegedly gang-raping street hawker

Two men who lured a street hawker into their room and gang-raped her have been arrested by the police in Ogun State.

The suspects, according to Punch, Ezekiel Yusuf, and Musa Abubakar, were arrested after the lured the lady who sells pawpaw on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects who are 29 and 25 years old respectively, said they lured the lady into Yusuf’s apartment under the pretense that they wanted to buy pawpaw from her.

“It was while she was shouting that the people around came to her rescue and subsequently reported to the police.

The DPO in charge of Ojodu Abiodun, S quickly dispatched detectives to the scene and two suspects were promptly arrested.”

The ASP Oyeyemi added that the State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution.
