Furore as 78-yr-old man slits his throat in Kano
What could have led a 78-year-old man to use a knife to slit his own throat? That is the puzzle for the Kano Police.
According to Daily Trust, the incident sent shocking waves round the city and set tongues wagging and asking questions as to what could have led the septuagenarian to take his life.
An eyewitness narrated that the man had earlier been seen at the blacksmith section in the market where he bought the sharp dagger he allegedly used to kill himself.
“We mistook him for one of the numerous butchers plying their trade, but we were shocked as he turned the same knife against himself.”
It was the cries of the man that alerted other traders in the market and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he gave up the ghost.
But the police authorities which suspected foul play over the development, has taken into custody four persons in connection with the tragic incident.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Magaji Musa Majia, said the command would not just conclude that it a suicide as they will pursue other angles.
“We are working on two leads and the likely outcome of our investigation would certainly reveal whether it is suicide or otherwise.”
