But when he proposed to her, she did the most unthinkable thing by telling him she does not love him enough to marry him as she and her ex-boyfriend were planning to get married.

Read his story here:

"My name is Michael, a 36-year-old man. I live and work in Lagos and just when I thought everything is working out for me as I had planned, my fiancée, Susan, has made

She has turned me into a laughing stock among my friends and within my family, with everyone telling me I got what I deserve after I had defied everyone and vowed to get married to her.

I met Susan about for years ago after a woman I loved with the whole of my heart disappointed me by eloping with one of my friends to South Africa.

At the time Susan came into my life, I had sworn never to fall in love stupidly for another woman again but with her, it was something different as I fell madly in love with her.

I saw in her a woman I could spend the rest of my life with. Susan had all the qualities any man would want to have as a wife and I did everything to make her happy.

Using my connections, I got her a new and better job, got her a well-furnished two-bedroom flat, bought her a car and even set up a shop for her old mother.

When her younger brother wanted to travel abroad, I spent more than N350,000 to pay for his visa and ticket. I did all these because I thought I was investing in my future wife but little did I know I was being taken for a fool.

I had introduced her to my family members and friends and while some approved of her, some warned me about her and cautioned me on the way I was spending money on her and her family but I did not want anyone to detract me from the woman I love.

In the middle of last year, I went with some family members to formally introduce myself to her family and made my intentions known to them and they accepted me as their in-law to be.

But in December, Susan did the most shocking thing. She had come over to spend the weekend with me but I noticed that she was not comfortable and I tried to find out what was wrong with her.

That was when I got the shock of my life. Susan plainly told me that she was not sure she could get married to me.

I thought she was just pulling my legs and when I asked her for her reason, she told me that she does not deserve me, that she had been cheating on me with her ex-lover who came back into her life.

She begged that I should forgive her because she has made up her mind to marry her ex. With that, she left me.

I cried so much that night and when I told my best friend about what Susan did, he simply told me he knew the relationship was built on falsehood but that I was too blinded by love to notice that Susan was just using me.

I have been living like an automaton since then as life has no more meaning for me. At times, I have been tempted to commit suicide but something keeps holding me back.

Michael.”
