Readers say Dorcas should reveal everything to Emmanuella

"My name is Dorcas, a 28-year-old lady. I have a problem that I want other readers to help me out because I am going out of mind at the moment.

I know many would blame me for putting myself into this mess and betraying my best friend, Emmanuella, by sleeping with her husband but I beg of you to hear me out first before condemning me.

I know what I did was very bad but I had no control over it though it has come back to haunt me after Jimmy has turned round to blackmail me sexually.

Ella and I grew up together in our neighourhood and we became close friends since our families were close as well. We attended the same schools from nursery to the university and many thought we were sisters.

We did so many things together and never hid anything from the other including our relationships. Her boyfriends were quite safe in my company while she was free to be with mine without any fear that something could come between them.

When we graduated and started working, we still kept our close relationship. When she got married to Jimmy three years ago, I was her maid of honour and after the wedding, I still had close access to her house and could even go over there even when she was not at home.

When she gave birth to her first child in December last year, she had to travel to her hometown so that her mother could take good care of her. Ella begged me to always go around and make food for Jimmy and keep him company so he would not stray.

That was how much she trusted me because she felt even if her husband would cheat on her, it would never be with me.

I took it upon myself to go to their house most weekends to cook for Jimmy and keep the house in order. I did these like I would do for a sister but how did I know that Jimmy had other plans up his sleeves?

It happened one weekend when I went there and after the house chores, he brought out a bottle of wine for us to drink, something he did often. But I guess Jimmy had drugged the drink he gave me because I passed out after drinking only to wake up naked in the early hours of the next day to on their matrimonial bed.

It took me a while to get my bearing and there was Jimmy equally naked beside me on the bed. I tried to recollect what happened but everything was foggy but I knew Jimmy had had sex with me while I was in my drunken state.

I put my fingers in my private part and as sure as day, there were deposits of semen inside me. I woke Jimmy up and asked him what he did to me and he only smiled and said I was all over him and was actually begging him to make love to me.

I left the house in a daze and cried all the way home. So many thoughts crossed my mind including calling Ella to tell her what happened or even reporting to the police but I dread what the consequence would be, so I decided to bury everything and move on with my life.

But I guess that was the mistake I made because Jimmy has not given me any peace of mind since then. He has been blackmailing me emotionally, insisting I must continue to sleep with me.

He told me that he had recorded everything that happened and he would show it to his wife or anyone I report him to, saying he would make everyone believe I was the one that seduced him.

Though I have been able to evade him, I am no longer finding this blackmail funny. Ella is coming back in a few day's time and I am sure she would know there is something wrong and if she finds out, I am sure it could be the end of her marriage knowing her the way I do.

I also know I will not be able to survive the scandal that would brew if this thing is made public. I really do need advice.
