Many Nigerians believe that some employers, especially the male folks, take advantage of the unemployment situation in the country to ask for sexual favours from job seekers. A Pulse reader, Catherine Omonide, found herself in such an unsavoury situation and wrote in to seek for advice.
Readers say it is not good to sleep with a man to get a job
68% of PNP voters say it is wrong to sleep with an employer for a job. What do you think?
Her letter read in part:
"I went for an interview with a big advertising agency and I was one of successful candidates short listed for the position but my problem now is that the Human Resources Manager told me point blank that to get the job, I must have sex with him.
I am at my wit's end and do not know what to do. I have confided in a few friends and almost all of them say I should sleep with the man to get what I want.
He has given me an ultimatum which expires this weekend and I desperately need this job. What should I do?"
Based on that, this poser was put up on Pulse Nigeria Poll:
How Nigeria voted:
32% - Yes, I will use what I have to get what I want
68% - No, I cannot sell my pride for a job
