Man arrested for beating wife over feeding money

For beating his wife and injuring her over money, a man has been arrested in Abuja.

A man who beat his wife over money has been arrested

A 40-year-old man, Richard Ogwu, has been arrested by the police in Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, for allegedly beating his wife, Nueke, to a state of stupor and inflicting serious injuries on her because she asked to give money that the family would feed with.

The report in Daily Trust has it that Ogwu had sent his wife away with their four children and brought in another woman and when the wife went to meet him to collect money for the upkeep of the children, he flared up and beat her up and the woman had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A source narrated that it was not the first time the couple would have issues pertaining to money anytime she went to meet him and this time, he simply refused to give her the money claiming he had no money. The argument that ensued led to a fight and Ogwu reportedly beat Nueke up.

“He even threatened to kill her if she refused to leave him alone, adding that he was ready to go to jail for that,” the source added.

The Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident, saying Ogwu has been arrested and would soon be charged to court.
