According to the court reports, the 36-year-old woman moved out of her matrimonial home in October when her husband traveled, and then moved in with the artisan identified as Alimi, who was living in the same Igando community where she and her husband lived.

She was said to have taken along with her a 12-year-old son she had with her husband. When the husband came back, he tried every possible means to take back his wife but she refused to go back to him, forcing him to lodged a complaint against Alimi and he was arrested and charged to court.

Speaking before the court, Kafayat vowed to do all she could to secure freedom for Alimi who she loves with all her heart.

She said she left her marriage because she and her husband were unable to get another child during their 13 years in marriage and that the husband wasn’t taking good care of her.

She confirmed that she became pregnant for her lover few months after they met and that with him, she was now living in peace.
