'My wife left me for a rich man; now she wants to come back'

Would you take back a woman who dumped you in hard times?

What would you say to this confused man? (Illustration)

The dilemma I have is that eight years ago, my wife and mother of two children left me and moved in with a rich chief as his third wife.

I loved so much and even though my family was against my , the love I had for her beclouded me and I dared my parents and got married to her.

At that time, I had a thriving business and had four shops in the famous Idumota market on Lagos Island. I was importing fabrics from Asian countries and I was able to afford to give my family the best in life.

I had built my house and had three cars and everything was going well for me till I fell into the hands of fraudsters who duped me.

May be I was greedy because the proposal they gave me was so good and looked very real that if I had missed it and it turned out to be true, everyone would blame me.

I had to use my house as a collateral to collect a huge amount of money as loan from a bank but when those fraudsters dealt me their hands, I lost everything I had laboured for.

The bank took my house and my cars and I was left with nothing. I almost committed suicide at that difficult time and only the grace of God and my only sister stood by me.

I expected my wife to bear with me and also help out since I had opened a thriving business for her but instead, she showed me her true colour.

Before I knew it, Bose was sleeping around with different men and looked down on me. She insulted me at will and made me regret ever defying my parents to marry her.

Things were so difficult that I had to squat with some friends. Bose further dealt me a heavy blow by announcing that she was leaving me. My friends begged her at least for the sake of the kids, but she would not listen to anyone.

I later got to know that she got married to a very rich Otunba as his third wife. I was devastated and became an alcoholic. Life was so difficult with me that I had to beg for food. Thanks to my sister who took my kids to live with her.

But God has a way of turning things around because two years ago, an old friend, , whom I had helped when he was travelling to Malaysia, came back into the country and when he saw  my condition. I narrated all I was going through and Anayo vowed to do everything to get me back to my feet.

True to his words, he took me to Malaysia where we hustled together and God being who He is, blessed us and today, I am back to my feet and things have picked up to a level that I bounced back big time. I dabbled into the oil and gas business and things are rosy again.

But the snag is that Bose: she is begging me to come back. I heard that the Otunba she left me for threw her out of his home after he caught her with his close friend having sex. My family say they will disown me if I ever take her back but my kids are also begging me to take back their mother.

This is my dilemma: should I dare my family yet again and take her back?
