First Class Graduate In Jail For Duping White Lady Of $12,000

First class graduate of Lead City University, Olakunle Akanni, put his knowledge into the wrong use.

For 23-year-old Olakunle Akanni, who graduated from the Lead City University, Ibadan, with a first class degree, the next twelve months will be spent behind bars after he was found guilty of defrauding a 77-year-old American grand mother, Diana Huizenga, of the sum of $12,000, about N1.9 million through a love scam on the Internet, posing as a white American man living in Nigeria with the name Robert Lewis.

Akanni was sentenced at the Ikeja High Court, Lagos, after it was established that the sharp guy had successfully used the “love scam” to fleece the woman and even invited her to come to Nigeria with $90,000 before he was apprehended.

The judge, Lateef Lawal-Akapo sentenced Akanni alongside one of his accomplices, Adesina Akinsola, 30, after being found guilty of a two-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences preferred against them.

Justice Lateef, while delivering judgement, said:

Also, the third defendant, Akinsola, is to pay the sum of N500,000 to the victim as restitution.

He also ordered them to write an undertaking to be submitted to the EFCC that they would be of good behaviour upon their release from prison custody.
