21-yr-old scammer in trouble for defrauding UK woman of N20m

A student who has been scamming a Briton for over two years has now been apprehended by the EFCC.

A 21-year-old man, Obiechina Chikeluba, is in serious trouble after he was traced and nabbed for defrauding a UK citizen, Kieran Oakes, to the tune of 54,000 pounds, (about N20 million), in an Internet love scam.

Chikeluba who told the court he is a student of the Federal Science and Technical College Yaba, Lagos, met the victim on Facebook  sometime in 2013, and assuming the profile of an American lady, Lisa Jackson, entered into a relationship with Oakes, with the pair agreeing to get married.

According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Chikeluba alias Lisa Jackson proceeded to scam the love-struck Oakes of the amount, ostensibly to enable 'her' travel to Britain to meet him and finalize their marriage.

It was after an endless wait for his 'fiancee' and the constant demands for money that it dawned on the Briton that he had been taken for a ride and consequently petitioned the EFCC.

Working with him, operatives of the Commission laid out a plan and arrested Chikeluba in a sting operation on February 24, 2015, while attempting to collect a parcel sent to him.
