NAPTIP officer in police net for allegedly attempting to murder cop lover

A man who was engaging in an extra-marital affair with a female police officer almost paid with his life after the woman invited her colleagues to beat him up.

According to Sittipe Mfin, Ogbonna who is serving in the state's officer of NAPTIP, allegedly tried to murder the woman who is a police officer attached to the Command, by beating her up and breaking her jaw, strangling her and leaving her in coma.

Narrating her experience in the hands of her married lover, the victim who is  Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the B Division of the State Command, said she and Ogbonna had been in an intimate relationship for a while without her realizing that he was married to another woman.

She added that when she found out that Ogbonna was married, she decided to call off the relationship because she was not ready to be a second wife.

But her decision to quit was not welcomed by Ogbonna who kept threatening to deal with her if she stood by her stance.

On the day of the incident, the suspect allegedly broke into the victim’s house, gave her the beating of her life and took to his heels when the victim collapsed.

However, when Pulse made findings, it was discovered that the story as narrated by the victim is not the true position of things.

Pulse spoke to an officer Agency who painted a picture of love gone sour between the two lovers. The official who claims to be in the know of the affair between Ogbonna and the policewoman insisted that she knew Ogbonna was married when they started the affair but that the cause of the fight was because she was also dating another police officer and Ogbonna caught her in the act.

This is what the officer said on telephone:

"It's true that Emmanuel Chukwuma Ogbonna had extra-marital affairs with the police officer whose name is , the DTO of B Division, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo.

But she lied about not knowing he was married; she is fully aware of his marital status. Besides, Chukwuma always wears his wedding ring, so she couldn't have said she doesn't know he is married.

It is not also true that he beat her to coma; the reason behind their argument was that Chukwuma visited her in the afternoon on Friday, October 28, 2016, but didn't meet her at home, so he waited for her inside his car.

After a long wait, she arrived and was dropped off by one who is the OC, Special Anti-Robbery Squad, State CID, Uyo, and also a boyfriend to the same ASP Ikponmwosa.

After SP Ekene left, Chukwuma enquired from ASP Ikponmwosa where she was coming from but she got angry and an argument ensued.

One thing led to the other and he beat up but didn't injure her as claimed by the police. In fact, she was the one who put a call to the same SP Ekene who then mobilized his men to arrest Chukwuma.

He was detained and brutalized for seven days before posting the wrong information on the Internet with the help of their media friends."

"Chukwuma is currently on admission at a hospital as a result of the police brutality he suffered in the hand's of his lover's boyfriend, SP Ekene, who is also the case officer."

All efforts to get the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Cordelia Nwawe, to comment on the matter has proved abortive as she did not pick her calls.
