Autopsy report shows Ronke did not die from marks of violence

The Lagos State Police Command has not received details of the autopsy report, according to SP Dolapo Badmos, the state Police Public Relations Officer.

Lekan and Ronke Shonde

According to Punch Metro, a preliminary report currently being compiled shows that Ronke might have died from a more complex cause.

This will calm the allegation laid against Shonde, who was accused of beating his wife to death.

The accusation that Shonde beat up his wife to death was made strong, when Ronke's family stated that her husband had a violent history.

Bolatito, the sister of the deceased (Ronke) stated that Shonde had physically abused her in the past, and that her death might be linked to it.

According to Punch, a source stated that the main cause of Ronke's death has not yet been confirmed, and that other possibilities are still being explored.

The source said, “As of now, the report showed that the marks of violence on the victim have nothing to do with her death. Other areas are still being explored. The actual thing that killed her has not been stated.”

However, the Lagos State Police Command has not been able to confirm the new development concerning investigations into the death of Ronke.

SP Dolapo Badmos, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, said they are yet to receive the autopsy report.

She said, “I just spoke with the people in charge now and they said the result is not complete yet. I will advise we exercise patience and caution. The police are also monitoring the case and we intend to get the report soon. This will be disclosed to  the public.”

The drama that led to the death of Ronke began when her husband, Lekan Shonde, accused her of having an affair with her boss at a publishing company called Learn Africa, where she worked.

It was alleged that Ronke died through confrontation with her husband.
