Police refute claims of 7-yr-old boy lynched for stealing garri

The Lagos state police commissioner has refuted claims that a 7-yr-old boy was lynched in the state.

The reports of the lynching along with the gruesome video have been making the rounds on social media, showing the young boy beaten to stupor before being set on fire.

Nigerians were so enraged by the incident that they have been calling for justice and an end to jungle justice.

Subsequently, the Lagos state police reached out via social media, seeking any information that would help the investigation into the case.

However, the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni has refuted the claims, saying the incident never happened anywhere in the state.

Police complaint unit, headed by Mr Abayomi Shogunle, via his twitter handle @YomiShogunle, said the story was untrue.
