Father docked for raping his own daughter

A 47 year old man has been arrested and charged to court for allegedly raping his teenage daughter.

How can a father rape his daughter?

An Ota Senior Magistrate Court in Ogun State, has remanded a 47-year-old man, Solomon Ojo, for allegedly raping his teenage daughter, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to police prosecutor, Sgt. Rosemary Brown, Ojo who lives on Abinuyo Street., Ijoko, in Ota, committed the crime sometime in 2013 when he took advantage of the fact that there was no one in his compound and forcefully had carnal knowledge of his daughter.

Brown said the offence committed by Ojo contravened Section 358 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Revised Law of Ogun State, 2006, and carries a 21 year jail term.

Ojo however pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Temitope Adebutu, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum while the case was adjourned to June 3, 2015 for hearing.
