Police arrest man who sold 7-weeks-old baby in Anambra
An alleged child trafficker who tricked a mother into giving him her child whom he sold, has been arrested in Anambra State.
Eboechina, was said to have deceived the single mother of the baby, Stella Nnaluo, into believing he was going to marry her after she gave birth to the baby, promising to adopt the baby and take good care of the child, only for him to sell him to traffickers.
According to the lady. Eboechina had come to their house on September 15, 2015, and told her father that he wanted to marry her and after some discussions, her father gave him the blessings and she followed him to his house with her son.
“Immediately we arrived at his acclaimed home, Eboechina took away my son and told me that he wants to send the baby boy to his sister somewhere, who will later send him to the United States of America where another of his sister is living so that the boy will grow up there.
I refused to succumb to the flimsy excuses he was giving me. Then, he forced me to drink water after making some incantations after which he also brought a staff and forced me to make an-oath that I will never disclose what happened to anybody or ask for my baby again. Out of duress I took the oath and immediately lost my senses. He then left with my son.”
After sometime, the spell the suspect had cast on her began to wane and she managed to escape to her father's house where she narrated all that transpired between her and Eboechina.
The case was reported to the police and the suspect was later arrested.
