2 dead as 2 trucks collide on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway
Akinbiyi told newsmen in Abeokuta that the accident was caused by herdsmen who were crossing with their cattle from one side of the express road to the other.
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed the accident.
``When the driver of the green austin tipper with registration number KJA 168 XP, loaded with sand, cited the cattles from afar, he lost control, killing one of the cattle.
``The tipper driver also lost control and killed one of the cattle before veering into the bush where he and the motor boy died.
``Meanwhile, a DAF truck with registration number TRE 270 XA approaching the axis also lost control upon citing the cattle as it swerved to the other side of the road.
``The two occupants of the truck were lucky to have escaped unhurt,’’ he said.
The official, however, said that the corpses had been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital mortuary in Ifo, while the two vehicles involved had been towed to Adigbe Police Station.
