We're Closing In On Missing Girls' Abductors – Army

Parents of the students of the abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State may soon be reunited with their wards as the Army on Sunday disclosed that the force is closing in on the abductors' den.

Speaking with newsmen, during a media tour of military camps in and around Maiduguri, Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, said the Army's operations have been productive.

"The military had moved close to where the insurgents are. It shows that the military had taken over the land,” he told newsmen.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Ahmed Mohammed, told the troops that the Federal Government was happy with them and their operations as the search for the missing girls continue.

In a related development, Nigeria's First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has called on wives of security chiefs to spur their husbands into intensifying efforts towards rescuing the abducted girls.

"I want to use this opportunity to appeal to wives of security chiefs at the national and state levels to mount pressures on their spouses to intensify effort to rescue our dear children," she said.
