Indonesia is reportedly set to execute at least two foreign convicts this year, and a Nigerian has been reported to be one of them
Indonesia to execute Nigerian convict
The Indonesian Attorney General made the disclosure today, July 13, 2016, revealing that a Nigerian and a Zimbabwean convict will be among those executed this year.
The reports also reveal that the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, has reportedly pledged to increase the number of executions in 2016 as part of his increased efforts to deal with drug trafficking in the country.
When asked by reporters if there would be any foreigners on the list of convicts to be executed this year, Attorney General, Muhammad Prasetyo said:
“We have foreigners, among them from Nigeria and Zimbabwe.”
Although he failed to reveal the crimes for which the convicts are to be executed, he said that convicts who were citizens of the United States, Europe or Australia were also on the list.
