Nigerian celebrities have been urged to insure their health as a valid means to expand life expectancy rate in the country.
Nigerian Celebrities Must Have Health Insurances – NEIHI
There will be the First Health Insurance Convention in Lagos on July 22 to create awareness to this effect.
This call comes from the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Lecture Series (NEILS) in partnership with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and Nigerian Medical Association who believe celebrities do not invest better on their health because of the lavish lifestyles some of them have adopted.
In line with this call, all associations have teamed up to bring the first ever Health Insurance Convention at the Eko Hotel, Lagos on July 22, 2014 as a customized learning and education platform for the practitioners of the entertainment industry and invariably members to understand and embrace the essence of health insurances.
The groups complained about the embarrassment they get when celebrities beg for money from fans and the government whenever they are stroke with life threatening ailments. This, they say leads to public ridicule and makes a shame of the industry.
