Reveals Debut Footwear Collection For High Fashion Label 'Pour La Victoire'

Top actress, Cameron Diaz has unveiled her first ever footwear collection for New York’s high fashion label Pour La Victoire and she says; it was 'a steep learning curve' experience.

The 41-year-old actress reportedly had no design experience before partnering with the New York-based brand last year, but she says she wanted to create 'something clean' without 'too many bells-and-whistles'; indirectly, "I needed something simple but classy", according to Footwear News.

According to reports, the actress invested a huge amount of energy in the creative process in-between shooting films and turned down the idea of having her name printed on the new shoe line neither will feature in any advertising campaigns. Instead, the leggy blondie wants the shoes - which come in shades of black, white and grey - to resonate with women for the right reasons.

"I don’t want girls to aspire to be me. That’s not what this brand is about. It’s not about wearing a shoe I would wear," she told Footwear News this weekend, "I want them to see themselves in these shoes."

She reportedly told WWD that her aim is to 'refine' and 'pare down' the brand's shoes, adding an air of sophistication.

'When I first came to [Pour La Victoire], I saw the potential in it because it was a brand that didn’t really have its own identity,' she said. "It was a little bit all over the place. I looked at it as an opportunity to help create that." However, considering comfort as well as style, she's added sexy ankle straps and cut-out detailing to designs along with lower heels.

Diaz became artistic director of Pour La Victoire last summer after signing a two-year contract. She worked closely with Pour La Victoire’s co-founder and executive creative director, David Giordano, to bring her design ideas to life and said she found the experience a steep learning curve. "In fashion you have pre-fall, fall, holiday. You have all these little mini collections that you have to do. I can’t keep track of it." She said, "It’s literally not my language. But I’m trying to learn it. They are teaching me and I’m learning from them, and they are learning from me.”

Meanwhile, Pour La Victoire executives believe few people better suited than Diaz to this sort of high-profile undertaking.

"She lives a lifestyle we all dream about," said the company's CEO Chris Nakatani. "Cameron brings an elevated taste level and an elevated perspective to the line and its design process."
