20-yr-old girl stabs man to death because he was disturbing her

A 20-year-old secondary school student has stabbed a young undergraduate to death because he was in love with her.

A 28-year-old man who would not take no from a girl he loved and pursued with everything he had, has lost his life in the process as the 20-year-old secondary school girl, Chisom Anyanwu, became angry at his insistence and used a kitchen knife to stab him to the death.

The incident which claimed the life of the undergraduate lover-boy, took place in Ubomiri community of Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

It was gathered that the girl had cautioned the young man to stop pestering her and allow her to concentrate on her education but like a typical Nigerian, the besotted young man felt her no was a subtle way of encouraging him and kept going to her house but that night, the girl was not in the mood to entertain his visit and angrily, picked up a kitchen knife which she buried in his chest.

He died before he could be rushed to the hospital.

But the murder of the young man reportedly caused unrest in the community as his friends, relations and angry youths went on a rampage, burning down the house of the parents of the girl.

But for the timely intervention of the police, the destruction could have been greater.

The Imo State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect has already been arrested.

"She is in police custody, while investigation is on."
