Court arraigns cleric who raped woman in Lagos
Despite the charge levelled against him, the accused was granted bail in the sum of N200,000, till the case resumes again.
Lawal, who committed the crime on July 1, 2016, has been charged with rape in accordance with Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Narrating how the incident occurred, as well as her surprise, the woman said she does not understand how she managed to sleep in the cleric's house till the next day.
This was communicated to the court by Sergeant Christopher Okoniko, the prosecutor in the case.
“She said the next day she narrated the story to her husband who reported the matter at Ikorodu police station which led to the arrest of the accused,”
“The accused uses one room for pastoral work, the second room to consult as a herbalist and the third one for muslim cleric (Alfa) work. “
Mrs A. Dan Oni, the court's magistrate has granted the suspect bail in the sum of N200,000 till the case resumes on September 14, 2016.
