Woman to spend 7 months in prison for stabbing

For stabbing a fellow woman during a fight, a 25 year old lady will spend seven months in jail.

A 25-year-old woman, Aishatu Umar, has been sentenced to seven months in prison for stabbing another woman, Halimatu Ishaya, with a kitchen knife.

Umar was sentenced a Zuba Upper Area Court, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, presided over by Malam Aminu Sa'ad after she pleaded guilty to the crime.

Aside the jail term, Umar, a resident of Shagari Quarters, Deidei, a suburb of the FCT, will also pay the sum of N7,000 to the victim.

The prosecutor, Inspector Haruna Danlami, told the court that on June 16, Ishaya of Shagari Quarters, lodged a complaint at Deidei Police Station, that the accused used a knife to inflict a deep cut on her forehead and right hand during an argument.

"The complainant’s clothes and shoes worth N7,000 were destroyed by her dripping blood," Danlami said.
