'My wife aborted a pregnancy for one of her boyfriends' - Husband tells court

A divorce seeking husband told a court that his wife aborted a pregnancy for another man.

A 51-year-old man, Sunday Imoleayo, has had an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court sitting in Ekiti State, dissolve his 28-year-old marriage between him and his wife, Funmise, on account of adultery and frequent fighting.

Imoleayo, a resident Omolayo, behind Queen’s Court, in the state capital, told the court that his wife was so promiscuous that she slept with different men and had confessed that she had aborted a pregnancy after one of her boyfriends got her pregnant.

"She fell sick and after I had taken her to many hospitals for treatment to no avail, the family elders consulted the deity and it was found out that she had committed adultery.

They told her that for her to get well, she must confess and that was when she confessed that she had aborted a baby for one of her boyfriends."

But the 45-year-old wife denied the allegations levelled against her, telling that it was her husband who had abandoned her for a long period of time without considering her and the children.

She however agreed to the divorce but urged the court to award her the custody of their daughter.

President of the court, Joseph Ogunsemi, observed that the marriage had broken down irretrievably and consequently dissolved the marriage, ruling that the 15-year-old daughter should be awarded to the wife, while the first son who is 27, can decide on his own who to be with since he is an adult.
