#BringBackOurGirls Campaign Starts Fire On Twitter

A cloud of angry-tweets-smoke is gathering on Twitter after Nigerians launched  a rather vocal #BringBackOurGirls campaign to show their support for the girls abducted by Boko Haram gunmen last week.

As at yesterday, the number of missing girls still in captivity, two weeks after their abduction from their school in Chibok, Borno, was put at over 200.

The #tag #BringBackOurGirls was adopted by people from all over the world and it soon began to trend.

Nigerians were full of anger, concern and love.

‏@PastorTeeOla wrote, "Educate a woman and you train a whole generation! Abducting our girls is a declaration of war on a whole generation #BringBackOurGirls."

‏"Those girls are true #Nigerian and they are a hope for the future. You can't govern/preside over kidnapped citizens. #BringBackOurGirls," @SeunAfuwape wrote.

The government was not doing enought according to folks like ‏@daayur.

"This country is not a serious country. Nothing is working #BringBackOurGirls," he tweeted.

And President GEJ was not spared their wrath.

"If the daughters of Mr President or his vice were to be among, would this be handled like this? #BringBackOurGirls," ‏@SeunAfuwape asked.

Twitterzens feel more could be done to bring the teenagers back to safety with most concerned about what the terrorists would be doing to the girls.

"These are school girls, I do not even want to imagine what they are doing with them. These are school girls, I do not even want to imagine what they are doing with them #BringBackOurGirls," ‏@_ChampKing said in a number of tweets.

The mental and psychological torture parents of the missing girls are going through was also noted.

"I can't even begin to imagine what the parents of those 200 abducted girls are going through right now. #BringBackOurGirls," ‏@adams_cock wrote.

Hard knocks came the way of the media who many did not give sufficient coverage to the national tragedy
