Driver kidnaps ex-employer for sacking him
A 28-year-old driver who kidnapped his ex-boss for sacking him has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
The Nation reports that Ogia used a toy gun to kidnap Adeola, forcing him to withdraw the sum of N1 million from his account and dispossessed him of his Toyota Camry car.
The suspect who was paraded by the police at the Command headquarters in Ikeja, confessed that it was his friends who lured him into abducting his ex-boss after he was sacked for beating up a colleague.
In his confessional statement, Ogia said:
“I can say that it is greed that made me do this. I was sacked by my ex-boss, Mr. Asemo Adeola. He is a caterer. He sacked me after I beat up a colleague. I was jobless and decided to attend a gym.
I was in the gym when one man called came to me that he wants to be my friend. We started talking and I told him how I was sacked.
He advised me to kidnap my ex-boss as revenge. I initially declined but he deceived me that nothing bad will happen to me.
I decided to go along with his plans and gave him my ex-boss’ number. We lured him to the University of Lagos. We told him that we had a catering job for him.
When he showed up about 4 am, we showed him a toy gun. I bought that gun at Ikotun for N400. We took him to my house and beat him up. Andrew followed him to Zenith Bank and forced him to withdraw N1 million. We released him but made away with his Toyota Camry car.
The car’s registration number is MUS 663 EG; we took it to Edo State and registered it with a new number GUE 271 LV. I will say it is greed that made me do this.
Andrew took N800,000 while he gave me N200,000. He took the vehicle to Auchi. I was later arrested in my father’s house while Andrew has been on the run since then.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos who has confirmed the incident, said the police has intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing Warri while Ogia would be charged to court after investigations.
