'I will kill my husband if you do not separate us' - Wife tells court

A divorce seeking woman has told a court that her marriage is not dissolve, there would be blood bath in the home.

My husband married me with charm, woman tells court

Tribune reports that the woman who swore an oath that she does not love her husband of eight years any longer, told the court that she is tired of the marriage and if she still continues to live with her husband identified as Akintola, she could end up killing him.

“I married my husband about eight years ago as a virgin and we are blessed with two children.

I made up my mind to divorce him because of several beatings. He did not allow me to work yet he does not take care of me and the children.

I pay the children’s school fees. His mother even told me to come and stay with her.  He has no respect and also not responsible for either family.

I beg this court to separate us in order to avoid bloodshed. I don’t have interest in him any longer,” Seyi told the court.

In reacting to the prayer by his wife, the respondent told the court that he is not in support of her decision on the divorce suit.

“The reason why I don’t want to divorce my wife is that she does not disobey me at all. I sponsored her to learn hairdressing. I take care of my wife. All she said is not true. She is a liar.”

At the first hearing, the case was adjourned to give the couple time to reconsider their stand but on the resumption of the trial, the presiding judge, Chief Agbaje Henry Olasunkanmi, pronounced the marriage annulled since the woman still insisted on leaving her husband.

“Having gone through the statement of both parties, the court cannot force them to live together. The court hereby dissolves the marriage.”

Chief Olasunkanmi, however, warned that there should be no form of molestation from either party in case they meet on the road.

He also ordered that the two children of the marriage stay with their mother and awarded N5, 000 as feeding allowance to both of them.
