Beyonce is known for inventing new words like bootylicious or creating strong feminine-themed numbers like Single Ladies and We Run The World (Girls); now the Partition singer says women are suppose to be the boss and not bossy in order for the world to be a better place for all.
The singer joins other A List celebrities to fight to ban the word bossy from being used to describe females who know what they want!
In a newly released clip publicizing the movement, familiar faces like Condoleezza Rice, Diane von Fürstenberg, and Jennifer Garner are also asking viewers to ban the word and instead encourage young girls to be assertive, ambitious, and brave and to be themselves. The PSA ends with Queen Bey declaring:
I'm not bossy! I'm the boss!
Funny thing is it goes contrary to what singer Kelis once told all young women back in 2006 in her hit single BOSSY – that women need to be bossy in order for men to respect you!
Well, with March being Women’s History Month, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In Foundation has started up a new initiative to end the b-word –as in bossy, while revealing that it discourages young women from being interested in leadership.
"School girls are less interested in leadership than boys and that's because they worry about being called 'Bossy!' We need to tell them it’s okay to be ambitious. We need to help them lean in. Words matter. Let’s just ban the word bossy and encourage girls to lead.”
