The ingenuity of some criminal elements in the country has caused the Federal Government to send a strong warning to Nigerians intimating of armed robbers who now disguise as users of the Automated Teller Machines (ATM), at machine points during the night and in the process, robbing unsuspecting victims who go to make withdrawals.
FG warns of robbers who disguise as ATM users at night
The Federal Government of Nigeria has warned its citizens to beware of ATM robbers.
In a letter sent out by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Nigerians are advised to be wary of such tricks.
The statement reads:
“The attention of the Federal Government has been drawn to the operation of armed robbers who attack members of the public while using the (ATM) at night.
The general public is advised to be vigilant and alert while using the ATM and should use machines that are located in well lit premises with adequate security around.
Furthermore, the Federal Government advices all banks to ensure that ATM’s are situated in properly lit premises and should ensure that they engage night guards to enhance the safety of their customers.”
