Police takes in resort workers for interrogation
The death of the two ladies has caused a lot of criticism by members of the public, as they lamented the absence of safety personnel at the beach.
The names of the managers are currently being withheld, but the police said their arrest was in connection to the tragedy which happened on Sunday, June 5, 2016.
SP Dolapo Badmos, the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos gave the announcement, stating that the force hopes to make more arrest to help with investigations.
She said, “The command has arrested two managers of the beach and they are being interrogated. We don’t want to release their names now so as not to infringe on their human rights.
“As soon as we ascertain their culpability, their names will be made public.”
“We hope to arrest more persons and we will visit the scene of the crime to know what transpired.”
The two victims of the drowning incident, Adesola Ogunmefun and Funmi Odusina, were about rounding up their Master’s programme at UNILAG when they died.
They were reported to be attending an event to celebrate their friend’s birthday party at the beach.
