Man in the dock for vowing to murder his lover’s husband

A man who threatened to kill his lover's husband has been arraigned in a court.

Adultery and murder go hand in hand

Olusegun Ashogbon, a 50-year-old man, has been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State, for allegedly threatening to kill the husband of his lover, one Aderemi Remi-Louis, according to a report in the Punch.

It was gathered that Ashogbon had sent a text message on June 16, 2015, to Remi-Louis, threatening to kill him if he did not leave his wife, Abiola Remi-Louis, for him.

The report has it that the woman who is a mother of three, and Ashogbon had been dating since October, 2014, six months after she moved out of her matrimonial home on Akanbi Crescent, Onitiri area of the state, and had been living together in a rented apartment on Awin Street, Bariga, while a divorce suit between her and her husband was still pending in the state’s high court.

But instead of waiting for the divorce to go through, Ashogbon resorted to sending threat messages to Remi-Louis who reported the case to the police.

“I received a call through around 8.22 am on June 7, 2015. Two minutes after, I called the number and discovered that the subscriber was in a conversation with some other people, telling them that Ogbeni yen ti pe (the man has called). Nine days after, I received a threat message from the same man.

The message read, 'We were calling you but you did not answer. You called our boss a thief when he phoned you. You can’t snatch our chairman’s wife. Your odeisi (charm) against bullets cannot work.

We will turn you to suya and put your body inside a Ghana-must-go bag and feed your body to fish.”

However, the accused denied sending the threat message to Remi-Louis though he agreed that the number belonged to him.

When the two counts charges bordering on conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and threat to life were read to him, Ashogbon pleaded not guilty and the chief magistrate, Mr. P.A. Ojo, admitted him to bail in the sum of N200, 000, while the case was adjourned till November 17, 2015.
