This dynamic and unstoppable duo have been together for a really long time and they have come a long way from their days of earning peanuts to making a name fro themselves in the industry.
Recently, Jane Michael, who happens to be the stylist to the likes of musical powerhouse, Waje, was just featured on CNN African Voices while Jekwu The Stylist is at the forefront of male styling in the music industry, being the official stylist of superstar, Tuface Idibia.
In an exclusive interview with Pulse, they discuss how lucrative the styling business is:
Michael started off by saying; “Based on the kind of clientele we have...we don’t always have million dollar clients...but we have a way of patching it.” She also cited Patience as a key recipe for monetary success.
Going further, Jekwu stressed; “first we are passionate about our job.” According to Jekwu, they had reasons to quit but they remained passionate, as they have been styling for 8 years and it hasn’t always been rosy.
The duo disclosed that for the first 18 months, they basically were not making any money; “we made zero naira from styling...nobody paid attention to stylists.” However, they credited popular music video director, Clarence Peters, as the only one who paid attention to styling and understood the importance of a stylist.
